New Director General Assumes Office at the Data Protection Authority
The newly appointed Director General of the Somalia Data Protection Authority, Mr. Mohamed Nur Ali, officially assumed office following a formal handover ceremony held in Mogadishu. The handover was conducted by the Deputy Director General of the Authority, Mr. Da’ud Abdi Hussein (Shigaaye).
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Mohamed Macallin Adan (Somali), as well as Members of Parliament from the Federal Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and representatives from various sectors, including education, banking, and the private sector.
The ceremony marked an important step in strengthening the leadership and institutional capacity of the Authority as it continues to implement the Somalia Data Protection Act and safeguard the privacy and personal data rights of individuals.
The Somalia Data Protection Authority reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its mandate independently, transparently, and in accordance with the law, while working closely with public institutions, the private sector, and other stakeholders to promote responsible data protection practices across the country.
